Total Spanish School: what do users think?

Davaalai10: Great 1 week at Total Spanish Group class as a complete beginner. Our cohort had a bit of larger group but still worked well overall. The staff are professional. Highlight to Maritza as the instructor who worked with the group very well and was attentive, focused but still flexible enough to accomodate each student and able to make each lesson fun and enjoyable with such a bright personality!

Patrick Murphy: I was extremely impressed with caliber of instruction. I was in a more advanced level and put into private instruction for the three weeks I was there. I can't speak to what group classes are like but each teacher I worked with was great. Very professional with high attention to detail. Highly recommended!

Egirde Villa: Recomiendo esta escuela para quienes quieran aprender hablar español. Buena atención y profesores. Y el lugar donde se encuentra está rodeado de naturaleza 👍

Pri M: , Nayi

Simon Varin: . The teachers know how to combine a serious program

Joe Rassam: Brilliant school and all the staff are really friendly and welcoming.I did three weeks of group with some private classes and massively improved in that time. Most of my lessons were with bivanni who is fantastic as I'm sure all of the teachers are.Would certainly recommend.Gracias por todo 🙏

Anna Robbins: with my heroes Estefania, Santiago, and Nayi, and it was such a special experience. From my very first email inquiry until my last day, Cindy and Kimberly and all the staff made me feel so welcome and at home here. Everything is incredibly organized, personalized, and professional, and the teachers are brilliant and taught me so much. They also organize daily activities and tours for the students to experience more of the city. Overall, it is such a beautiful learning community. There are many options of Spanish schools in Medellin and Poblado, and I cannot imagine that any of them exceed Total Spanish. You will not find a place that offers a better experience!

Zefan: . I had two teachers, Santiago and David; both were incredible and I appreciated all of our casual conversations about Colombian life and culture. They were interesting, friendly people that I would have enjoyed spending time with in any context, and they definitely loved teaching. The entire staff is absolutely amazing; I felt like I had a home in Medellin. Daily tours were a

B. K.: Communication with the school was easy at all times and the after school activities are also fun!muchísimas gracias!

Stefan Lindmair: Any time. Perfect organization. Great team.

Feather Theatre: . The afternoon activities were really informative and it was great to learn about Medellin from people who have grown up here. Would give it more stars if I could, best school in medellin

Blink Spanish Immersion School & Hostel: what do users think?

Mika H.: The restaurant is really nice. Loved the food very traditional, and the service was excellent. The hostel was ok but it has many humidity problems. The teacher are really professional and friendly. Group lessons have much grammar. It would have been great to practice more conversation. The owner was a good person but he was unable to control his emotions so sometimes he could be very rude to students and teachers as well, and mostly in front of other people. That definitely should change since it gives a bad image of the school. He needs to be more careful when he feels stressed or angry I think so.

Sophie Keegan: Angi at reception is a ray of sunshine! She made myself and so many of us feel welcome and want to stay longer. The teachers are also great. The school organises activities for the evenings and weekends so you won’t ever be at a loose end. The dorms are basic but the biggest beds I’ve slept on in a hostel. Would recommend staying two weeks.

Matt Norris: I had the best week of private lessons with Laura. Fun and engaging teacher, highly recommend.

Natalie Akam: The school is a lot of fun, quite intense with a mixture of group and private classes and homework to complete every day. I felt we covered quite a lot and the private classes were a good chance to go over concepts 1:1 and practice speaking. I found my profesora very inspiring and fun to learn from, and in fact all the teachers I met were lovely humans, well qualified and good at what they do. The hostel itself is fairly basic and IMO could do with some larger and more comfortable common areas

Jessica Ireland: I stayed at Blink for a total of 5 weeks and it greatly improved my Spanish. I actually came for one week and liked it so much that I came back to Colombia a couple months later to study again. I took both group and private classes. The teaching is of really good quality and the hostel is very social. It’s hard to leave! Whether you know no Spanish or are looking to improve, I couldn’t recommend Blink enough!

Cam G Scott: Best Spanish School in Medellin! The structure of their curriculum and small class sizes are perfect for anyone whether you studied bit before coming or don't know the language at all. They have well qualified professors who are all very patient and well knowledgeable of how to teach in a way that anyone can catch on quickly and become conversationally proficient in no time. I learned a lot in just the first 2 weeks and was able to confidently communicate with the locals without a translator. I really like the hostel as well as the tours and social events, too! Together, they create a great environment to interact with locals and also with other students at different levels. Definitely a great value for the price. I recommend this school to anyone who is serious about learning Spanish.

L. Danielle: Great school for learning spanish! Good teachers, good food. They organise activities during the week.Very good price!

Isabella A: I had private lessons with Carolina at Blink for one week. The classes were very clear and fun and Carolina has the sweetest heart. Would recommend!

Élisabeth Groulx: I loved my week at Blink, especially thanks to my teacher Maria Arango who made learning Spanish really enjoyable! We even went for a walk in the neighborhood during the last class and I found that this special little outing was a wonderful embodiment of our learning for the week!

J.M. Wallnofer: in Poblado

Flora Lonie: . It also had a social atmosphere between students/ staff and good social areas in the hostel. One thing that also stood out about Blink was the positive nature of the business - the owner was really passionate about making sure staff were treated well and I think this really shone through in the whole vibe of the school.I would personally recommend staying here for at least a few weeks - we initially planned to stay only one week but extended our stay to three

Chloe Foster: Just finished two weeks at blink and it was amazing!!!! My teacher, professor Aura, was so amazing, she made every class fun, we played games to practice our Spanish, she was patient with us and we laughed a lot in every lesson. I will miss seeing her everyday! ❤️ I can’t believe how much Spanish I’ve learnt in two weeks and I leave feeling so much more confident. Definitely recommend this school, much better than the previous one I’ve been to!

Smart_art: I really enjoyed my time here. The accommodation is amazing. They have a balcony, 2 modern clean kitchens, guitar, book shelf, comfy beds with curtains and tables to learn Spanish. The classrooms are tiny but u also learn with just a couple of people, so it’s perfect. The lunch and breakfast are really good and big portions. Not only the staff was super nice and helpful. But also the students were super open. It was so easy to make friends. The locations is perfect. There are bars, laundry, cafes and supermarkets just nearby. It’s also safe compared to other places in Medellin. You just walk 15 minutes to the clubs/bars.The teachers are all really qualified. The classes were fun and informative because my teacher also thought us slang words or the history about Medellin. We learned a lot about grammar. The private lessons were extremely helpful. I wish I had more !I can’t say anything bad about blink just highly recommend it to everyone who wants to improve their Spanish and have a fun time in Medellin.

Colombia Immersion Spanish School - Laureles: what do users think?

KikoPech Jackson: Fun fact, you didn't come for the school but for the death of a legendary legend from Colombia.

Robert Carpenter: I'm so thankful for my 3+ months of study at Colombia Immersion! The people in the school are so kind and welcoming, and the quality of the instruction is just fantastic. I studied in the Laureles location, but also visited Envigado for the social events. Laureles is a beautiful, safe neighborhood and the staff are incredibly professional and devoted to student success and experience. I studied mostly with Juan, and he takes his job incredibly seriously - my Spanish proficiency grew in leaps and bounds. I recommend this school and location to anyone interested. I absolutely love Medellin and this school is an important part of that experience!

Abbie Wilson: An amazing place to study Spanish, a home away from home with well put together and flexible curriculums.

Robert Hejduk: Took three weeks of classes here with two different teachers. Class and teachers were excellent. My largest class was 4 total students. Staff was friendly but most importantly my Spanish improved dramatically. When I return to Medellin in a few months I will take at least another week of class.

K. Branigan: ... but the genuine warmth, care, and passion we felt from everyone at the school

Adrian: and can definitely recommend it to everyone! The teachers were very professional, yet managed to maintain a great, friendly atmosphere during the classes. Thanks to that you can learn very fast and are positively motivated to continue! All other aspects also very good - administrative things handled very well, communication is clear and fast. The integration part

Jeremy Smith: . The facility / house in Laureles is really spacious and relaxing while many other schools are near noisy areas that can make it hard to focus

Alex J: , with engaging teachers and class sizes only being around 2-6 people. This smaller classroom made it so you had to speak more often and really immerse yourself in the language.Plus, after classes each day, there was an activity later in the evening which would incorporate learning about the Colombian culture while doing something fun: like cooking or going on field trips to historical areas that are not just the tourist attractions.I couldn't recommend this school enough, weather you want to touch up on your Spanish for 2 weeks or spend 2 months really improving your skills, this school is where you want to be!

Valentine Ammeux: I spent 2 weeks at Colombia Immersion in Laureles and loved everything: my teacher was an intelligent and interesting woman who shared lots of cultural tips with me, and the school offers evening activities like salsa, cooking classes, quiz, or tours of the city. A great way to dive in colombian culture and lifestyle!

Eric Grube: I spent three weeks taking classes here and had a fantastic experience! I had taken some Spanish in high school, but nothing formal after that. All of the instructors were great and personable, and the staff make a big effort to ensure that everyone is comfortable and enjoying their time at the school. In addition, the near daily events that the school schedules are fantastic and a great way to meet both Colombians and other travelers! I would absolutely recommend this school, and specifically their total immersion path. The 1-1 coaching that comes with that is great and really helps you learn actual conversational Spanish as opposed to textbook Spanish.

Samantha Lees: I had an amazing 4 weeks at CI - not only did I learn Spanish very quickly with their teachers who were all very professional, engaging and patient, as well as having 1-to-1 conversation sessions; I also got to see a lot more of the city and learn about the culture here because they organise an array of activities, take you on field trips to places tourists wouldn't go, and make friends with locals and people from all over the world. The staff are also super kind and helpful and a friendly bunch. And Medellin is a fantastic city - there's no better way to experience it than to truly immerse yourself with this school!! Would definitely go back again if I had another opportunity.

Jake Wamala: , the students are diverse – from different ages, countries, and Spanish-speaking experience, and the school is welcoming

Myriam Dionne: I took courses there for 4 weeks and I love it! The school is very organized and the teachers are very qualified. They listened to me and arranged my courses according to my objectives and I appreciated them very much! Also, the school is in a quieter part of Medellín, we can enjoy the real side of the city. I will return without a doubt!

arianna jimenez: I studied Spanish in college for a number of years, but that was 20 years ago and I was rusty to say the least. I wanted to be conversationally fluent again and feel comfortable traveling around Latin American and talking to native speakers. I studied with Colombia Immersion for 6 weeks. They took me through some serious brushing up on the basics which I had forgotten, through more advanced level conversation and grammar. My spanish speaking, writing and comprehension improved greatly. The class sizes are very small so you get a lot of individual attention. All of the teachers and staff are warm, and welcoming, and deeply invested in helping their students learn. In addition they offer after class activities to introduce the students to the history and culture of Medellin. I had a great experience. I highly recommend Colombia Immersion.

David Lehr: you are interested in!Go there! You will love it!

Jordan Kalik: are far removed from the touristy area of Poblado which creates an amazing learning environment and immersive experience as there is almost zero opportunity to speak English.I traveled to Medellin alone, but after my first day at Colombia Immersion, I never had to go anywhere alone. The school became my community for four weeks and I always had people to explore with, eat with, and dance salsa with! If you are interested in learning Spanish, there should be no other option than Colombia Immersion. Gracias, Colombia Immersion, for an incredible summer!

BaseLang Spanish School: what do users think?

Jay: This is one of the best Unlimited Spanish School Online or located in Medellín. I am not perfect speaking but I’m extremely happy of the knowledge I’ve gained. I would definitely recommend 💯

David Campbell: Best Spanish school in Medellin. I highly recommend Baselang. All the teachers are passionate about what they do and are extremely friendly. I signed up for 6 weeks of classes for two hours a day and have learned so much. Great location in Laureles and amazing coffee included. Keep up the great work!

Patron Entb: 3xelente

All We Do is Twin User: I am so glad I came BACK to Baselang after trying some private teachers. I am in the $149 group and yes you have to find your person and select your classes before they get taken but that is the only draw back. I have been with the program now for 3 years and I have made a ton of friends and connections with my teachers. I don't always have someone to talk to but now I always have someone to talk to. Thank goodness. I can cancel my class at the last minute or I can jump into a class at the last second. My accent is great and I understand just about everything anymore. Definitely worth trying.

Brian F: Baselang en la primera escuela para aprender Español en todo el mundo! Muchas gracias por la educación. Dany es mi profesora favorita!

Andrew Crosby: Baselang is a great language school, extremely flexible with booking classes, even at the last minute. I have an online subscription to take classes remotely, when I visited Medellin they easily changed it to an in-person subscription during my trip. You can easily try different instructors to find those that match your style or mood. Highly recommended.

Ezra Dotson: I just fished taking a month of classes here, and I loved it! My teachers here was extremely patient with me and helped me to progress so far in my ability to speak Spanish. I started from the very beginning and after a month I am now able to have basic conversations with different people here in Columbia! I am so grateful for my time here at BaseLang!

Lonn Anderson: I came to Medellin a low intermediate Spanish speaker. The first week I took classes at a different school that utilized group classes. The following week they were closed for the Christmas and New Year holidays. I wanted to continue my lessons and Baselang was open and I am so glad. There, I went to daily classes that were 2 hours long and were one-to-one with a teacher of my choosing. I alternated on different days so I could hear different accents. Also, while enrolled for in-person classes I could also take unlimited online classes. Again, for me it was important to hear different voices from different countries so I could improve my comprehension. After my Baselang lessons and 4 weeks in Medellin, I am quite proud of my Spanish progress! At least for me, Baselang's methods and approach are the best.

Nueva Lengua: what do users think?

Jeff Ratliff: I didn't stay on campus, so can't comment on that, but there are plenty of reasonable accommodations within walking distance and Ubers and taxis are not too expensive if you want to stay outside of El Poblado. The classrooms are spacious and airy with large tables, comfortable chairs, whiteboards, and LED screens. The group classes run from 9:00-1:00 with breaks between sessions. During the breaks students gather to chat, and because there are students from so many countries eager to practice Spanish, the breaks themselves turn into fantastic learning opportunities. In addition the school organizes a variety of engaging optional activities such as tours, dancing, cooking, recreation, and outings to sports events. The activities are priced reasonably and some are free.Aside from the administration, facilities, and extracurricular activities, the real stars of Nueva Lengua are the teachers. Each one is clearly qualified to teach Spanish to non-native speakers. They follow a curriculum but each presents it in their own way through full immersion in text, activities, videos, and music. It was obvious that they love teaching and answer every question not just on Spanish topics but on Colombia and Colombian culture. They are constantly engaged with students and each other before, during and after classes, and also during breaks. The teachers really go out of their way to help students find their way around Medellín and close relationships form quickly and easily. Students and teachers often end up sharing meals and going out together for evening activities. I really can't say enough about the kindness, generosity, care, and professionalism shown by the teachers. Mil gracias Adriana, Eduardo, Marcela, Brayan, Mariana, and Samantha. I also want to give a special thanks to Ms. Luz for her kindness and her contagious smile. I hope to see you all again. ❤️

Alex Zwalen: The school Nueva lengua is located over a short distance. Next to each of the grammar majoring classes, daily conversation classes are set up, videos are played, music is played and literary texts are read. Every weekend find the dance classes and cooking classes quite entertaining inspiring and rich. All the teachers are very professional and quite all are extremely genuinely friendly and lovely. As they say in Colombia, the profes are the chimba. The New Language school has a very comprehensive class program. Apart from the Spanish classes in which grammar is learned in various forms , I must say that speaking writing and listening exercises are done there is every day a conversation class with current topics. Apart from those classes there are cooking and dance classes which are a lot of fun and with a lot of learning. As for the profes, the profes are very professional, authentic simpatico and kind , as they say in Colombia, the profes are the chimba .

Gabriel Pereira Santos: I loved my entire stay here. The teachers are very attentive. We can make a lot of friends and get to know a lot of the city when studying here. My Spanish has improved a lot

Michiel van der Vorm: My second language school, second location of nevua lengua, and although it is very different from Cartagena it was still a lot of fun. High level of lessons and you can speak English with enough people if necessary. The students are all nice and there is a lot to do with them or with the teachers themselves. Definitely recommended and hope this has helped you.

Tyree Strawter: I enjoyed coming to this school. I came to Medellin not understanding much Spanish but after 4 weeks I learned so much. The teachers are phenomenal but it’s important to all the questions you need and they will answer them. I enjoyed the activities and felt like the school accepted me as their child experiencing a new country and culture. I highly recommend everyone come to Nueva Lengua, see where your spanish is and then the teachers will help you move forward!

Laurits Riis Lund: Very happy about my stay here, learned a lot and enjoyed all the activities. Great teachers also!

Henry Dean: I had a great time at Nueva Lengua Medellin! I studied at the school for a month. The teachers are great - they are all friendly, helpful and excellent at adjusting their Spanish to suit the level of the students. The activities were more varied than I expected - over the month there were only a few that were repeated. They are a good mix of fun and informative. Medellin itself is a great city, after a month there are still many things I want to do but haven't had time for. Cinco estrellas!

serge sympa: A school open for levels. As a retreat, I found courses adapted to my levels with super competent teachers

Aryane Roy: .The people studying there come from all over the world and make the experience even more enriching.I will definitely go back!!Special thanks to Brayan, Marcela, Diana, Samantha and Adriana ❤️

Leo Pettersson (Lajjo): What makes this school excellent are the teachers. Helpful, professional and perhaps above all personal in their learning. Both regular lessons and private lessons worked perfectly during my four weeks there. Highly recommended if you are really serious about trying to learn Spanish. Thanks for the time!

Jana Beck: I can highly recommend nueva lengua. I learned a lot in only 20 hours. Our professor Mariana only spoke spanish which was great so I needed to find away to express myself.

Markus S.: . I can highly recommend staying with a host family. This provides a perfect connection to Colombian life.

Verena Donislreiter: Great school, very professional. With Samantha as my teacher in Medellín, I learned a lot within 2 weeks. Recommended!

Nolan Cattola: . The teachers are attentive and the lessons are entertaining. I recommend 100%. Teacher Bryan is super nice and funny and is a very good salsa dancer.

chico ri: A great place to learn! The teachers are great, the atmosphere is great and there's nothing better to enjoy Medellín! Go for it!

Peter McGavin: I spent 3 weeks at this location and really enjoyed it. They give you a traditional welcome lunch on your first day and include you in cultural events during your time there. All of the professors are really friendly and helpful and want you to learn as much as possible. Profe Brayan was my personal favourite, he really knows how to connect with the students! Gracias Profes!

Yemi A: I just finished three months in Medellín and I loved it. I started with little to no Spanish; just present tense knowledge and vocab from Duolingo. So I began at A0 and finished in B2. I now feel confident enough to travel around Colombia and while my Spanish isn't perfect I can communicate, understand responses and engage in long conversations.Everyone at the school wants you to succeed and does everything to help you, they are more than willing to answer any questions whether they are grammar related or not. The classes don't feel like school and have a laid back approach to it, of course studying helps, but because you are out in the city using what you learn you are always studying, so I didn't find myself looking over notes everyday. After classes and during breaks professors love to talk with you about anything and everything, which is a great way to put into practice what you have learned. They provide worksheets on sections you are going over which is always helpful to reference later. Classes sometimes move at a faster pace, but it doesn't feel so quick that I felt lost and on days when I did studying or talking with the professors about my issues really helped. The classes are 4 hours a day Monday to Fridays from 9am to 1pm; 3 hours is grammar and then an hour of communication. There's also cooking classes where you can learn how to make traditional Colombian food, cultural activities where you go to well known spots in Colombia as well as fun nights out. All are great bonding experiences with your peers and the teachers.I also stayed at the school in a dorm of four which was really helpful because I was able to wake up and walk downstairs to class plus I didn't have to think about breakfast which is always wonderful. Overall this is a great place to learn Spanish whether you want to be fluent or just want to spend a week or two picking up some Spanish as you go along your travels.

Constanze Nagl: The activities organized by the school were very interesting. Despite the fact that I already knew a lot of Medellín, I also got to know new places.

Karen Kawadza: I am forever grateful to this school and my 3 weeks spent here studying Spanish. My profesor was Samantha Castaño. She was one of the kindest, most patient and detailed teachers. Her passion and energy is infectious and she makes learning very enjoyable. Her speaking is very clear and easier to understand. She prepares you well to be able to then go out into the world and communicate well with other Spanish speakers. Samantha went the extra mile to tailor each student’s Spanish needs according to their own life experiences and career. I also had Eduardo and Mariana who did segmented classes of communication with us. They were equally amazing and improved my confidence with the language. We delved into really interesting topics each day with good error correction and new vocabulary. Personally my Spanish reading, speaking and listening skills improved massively in my time here. I made great progress and I am glad to have chosen Nueva Lengua as my school of choice. I would go back there in a heartbeat and I already miss learning there. It was so cool to be able to meet and make friends with other students from all over the world. The school is situated in a very good part of Medellin too so it makes it easy to adjust into a completely new environment.

Maaike Willekes: Nueva lengua is a very good spanish school! I booked for two weeks but stayed three in the end and learned a lot during those weeks. The organised activities are also very nice and help to surround yourself with the Spanish language 😊
